Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition
Originally formed as a chapter of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, coalition members considered that we could better serve the needs of Washington County road users of all types because we have roads of all types if we sought separate status from the "Mother ship" as we fondly consider our mentor organization.
Since then we have grown from a group of activists with plenty of energy to make change but having no one listen to having members serve on project committees, advisory boards and other forms of citizen involvement at all levels of government.

Providence Health and Washington County Bicycle Coalition team up to collect used bikes.
Here's an interesting advocacy alert from the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition. They're hoping the Hillsboro Parks Commission will grant them a variance to allow an event ride to pedal through an area park. An excerpt from their action alert is below (read the whole thing here):

This past June, Tim O'Donnell, 66, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle with a group of friends.
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance in partnership with the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition, has formed an ad hoc committee develop a program to raise motorists' awareness about the increased use of Washington County roadways by bicyclists of every age, description, riding style and purpose.
Through the grassroots efforts of the WashCo BTC, volunteers at venues around the county will promote the message to motorists that the cyclist they are passing is a relative, friend, coworker or neighbor. The goal is to appeal to motorists' compassion, humanizing the concept of the ?Share the Road? signage posted at many locations around Washington County.

Hal Ballard, acting executive director of the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition has organized a brief memorial service tonight for Austin Miller, the 15 year-old who was killed after colliding with a bus in Beaverton yesterday.

The Meyer Memorial Trust, created by the late retail magnate Fred Meyer, announced their latest grant recipients on Friday.
Among them is the Beaverton-based has Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition (WashCoBTC). The group has been awarded $7,500 for "strategic planning and board development."
