The Pearl Wine Shop

Ken Collura, a native of Greenwich Village in New York CIty, is the Wine Director at The Pearl Wine Shop and andina Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Both roles allow Collura to educate guests about boutique wineries from around the world, offering intimate wine education classes and weekly tastings in the adjacent wine shop. His philosophy on wine is that it does not have to be expensive, elite or difficult to understand. It should be an integral part of every evening's meal.

The Pearl Wine Shop, located below Andina Restaurant, has expanded its seating to include the adjacent indoor courtyard of the historic Pennington Building. Wine enthusiasts have always been able to taste all Gallery 21 wines available per month, but now the added seating allows for monthly wine flights to be paired with a small plates menu -- including artisanal cheeses served with quince jam, serrano ham and Rioja?s dry-cured sausage. The light menu is available as small, medium and large plates and is served in the wine shop and courtyard during wine shop hours.

?The wine shop is an intimate space and we want to offer more seating for our customers and diners prior to their meal at Andina,? says wine director Ken Collura. The monthly wine flights are chosen from the 21 available wines offered monthly in the Pearl Wine Shop and online at www.thepearlwineshop.com. Both Gallery 21 wines and the flights change each month and feature wines that are produced in small quantities from family-owned estates.
