With great anticipation, Ellie and I are pleased to announce that beginning
September 30, 2007, The Pearl Retriever will make two exciting changes: we will (1) switch our name to pdxdog.com, and (2) take our business online. Our physical store location at 526 NW 13th Avenue will officially close on August 31st.

We've long wished for a way to reach more people, share more ideas, and expand The Pearl Retriever concept-offering our unique products and services to dogs and their owners not just here in town, but around the world. The web offers us the perfect venue to make this happen.

We envision pdxdog.com to be the "go to" site for cool products, ideas, resources, and more. Like our store location, it will be a place where you'll discover unusual, handpicked, and hard-to-find items that we've personally "road tested." It will also be a vibrant community-driven and solution-based site featuring captivating articles, guest columns from renowned authors and dog experts, an "Ask the Trainer" blog, and a way for you to connect and communicate with other dog lovers-here in Portland or far away.

Look for pdxdog.com soon! It will be up and running in no time at all.

It has been no secret that The Pearl Retriever location has been very challenging. Recently, it became abundantly clear that we couldn't grow our business in this space.

This Wednesday! Get Pretty at Fez Studio and Support DoveLewis

Fez Studio and pdx dog (formerly The Pearl Retriever) are teaming up to make you beautiful AND help low-income clients at DoveLewis. Call Fez Studio at 503.227.2226 to make an appointment for a makeover on Wednesday, February 13 between 5pm and 8pm. Fez will donate 20% of the cost of each makeover to our Velvet Financial Assistance Fund, which helps qualifying low-income clients with their pets' medical bills in our hospital. Makeovers run from $40 to $60 -- a GREAT price to drive away those winter blahs, give you or your favorite friend a brand new look, AND support a worthy cause!

This is Ted, isn't he cute? Ted was wondering what the Pearl Neighborhood was all about when he last visited from Canada and what there was to do. He was in the mood for a hike so I told him about Furry Godmothers Day Camp for Dogs. He was very excited about the idea of being off leash for the day.

He wanted to shop a little before he left for a new leash and collar so he went to Urban Fauna, LexiDog and The Pearl Retriever. He bought a Mascot sailor's knot collar and leash which was perfect for hiking.

Ted likes to use the computer so I got him to Portland Pooch for all the dog resources in Portland.

He was a happy dog and very tired at the end of the day!
