I did a photo shoot some months ago with The Subcons at The Funky Church in PDX. These are some of the outtakes.
I have a few suggestions...
...at my place for a few days. They're such nice and likable guys (and
in need of gas and food money), that I'm sending out a 2nd email in
the hopes that a few of you will come by to check it out. Let's show
Sweden how we do it - show starts at 8 and costs $5.
My bandmate Richard managed to sniff out a show with Marching Band
this Friday at the church. Marching Band is from Sweden, but
currently doing a residency at Spaceland in LA. We talked them into
coming up the coast for a short tour between their weekly gigs and are
very excited about it. They're a tasteful pop band with a resume that
Loch Lomond is playing the church this Saturday the 25th as a tuneup
for their fall tour with the Decemberists (congratz are in order).
Come see their indie orchestra in action. Show starts at 8 with The
Brothers Young - cover will be $5ish as usual.
The F Church
underground status rivals Nico or Patti Smith in her barren homeland;
after her mysterious death in 1991, Yanka's music continued to be
distributed non-commercially through dubbed mix tapes. While walking
in New York City's Brighton Beach neighborhood, Alina Simone happened
for once it's a funky church show by the actual residents of the
church...
we're relly rilly reiley excited to release our new album "Los
Arkansans Misterioso" this saturday, july 19
the show will have my roomie James on lap steel and cumbus, Mike
Calvert on drums, and Chaz Hastings on Cajon / Tabla
