I'll be having a birthday in this lovely city shortly, and although I usually try to forget about it, I decided a low-key get-together this year might be fun. I've Yelped a bit and the Davis Street Tavern looks nice, is fairly close to me, and seems group-friendly (there'd be about 5-7 of us).
Anyone been there before and have an opinion (or alternate suggestion) to throw my way? I'm just looking for a place that's got a comfortable atmosphere, decent beer and food (with at least a couple vegan options), and enough seating for all of us.

808 NW 23rd Ave - Goorin Brothers
"A tip of the hat, an extension of the pinky" is what this party calls for. Recent Portland imports, Goorin Brothers Hatmakers are celebrating the opening of their newest store in Nob Hill on NW 23rd. As a proud owner of the several of their pieces; these ARE the best damn hats in the world.
To honor this momentous event, the new kid on the block is throwing down one mad gala. The festivities take place on Friday, August 28th and run from 4:00pm - 9:00pm at the store (Between NW Kearny & NW Johnson on 23rd) with a DJ, food and of course FREE booze but the party doesn't stop there. The party continues at Davis Street Tavern (500 NW Davis) with free cocktails from 9:30 - 10:30pm. Davis Street Tavern is another great institution not to be missed as well.
What goes better with fashion headwear than FREE booze? Nothing in my opinion.
