All the more reason, then, to recall the joys of a small hardware store, smartly organized. Such a place is the Pearl's ACE hardware, and it just so happens to have an adorable restaurant next door. A sort of eerie symbiosis emerges upon inspection - ACE will send you home with everything you need to build a deck, and Nancy's will provide an oven-ready package of down-home eats, ready to be warmed while you work into the evening....I dunno, I'm waxing poetic, but trust me, the food is yummy.
As always, buy your own breakfast, then join some number of intrepid souls as they wander through ACE and dream of PVC robots with colander antenna arrays...
I just got back from PubTalk at Mt. Emily Ale House -- great venue and networking! Presented and organized by NE Oregon Economic Development Dept. (NEOEDD), sponsored by Community Bank and Davis Wright Tremaine, LLP, and attended by about 45 members of the business community.
Local Businesses talked about their experiences with "Marketing From The Trenches". Keith Burghardt of Community Bank gave Simple Marketing Tips; Karyn Bischoff, owner of Stargazer Perennials, talked about the power of on-line marketing; and Lisa Lively, owner of Aggies shared successful marketing events.

Sgt. Gower Talley of Canby, marketing director for the Oregon Army National Guard, is one of two finalists to win a hardware store dealership valued at $1 million, the Ace Hardware Corp. announced today.
The final stage of competition will take place next week in Las Vegas.
More than 5,400 people entered the national Ace Hardware contest, competing in a series of skill-based tests, interviews and presentations.
Talley is a 20-year veteran of the Army and completed his 20 years as a member of the Oregon Army National Guard.
