This is sort of sad.
My favorite summer job of all time was the three months I spent as a courier for Security Pacific in the early 90s. I had a little route that took me from what's now the South Waterfront, into downtown and back. It was during this summer that I learned how to [...]

Join the fun as Portland celebrates the largest event ever to showcase the Willamette River with an 11-day festival taking place August 28th - September 7tt. Riverfest South Waterfront Day takes place on September 6th from 11 am to 5 pm, at the South Waterfront Neighborhood Park, 3508 SW Moody Ave.

The Governor announced his comprehensive climate change package this morning at OHSU's LEED-platinum rated building on the South Waterfront. Energy efficiency and conservation measures got the most emphasis, with the governor backing a requirement to build only net-zero energy homes and businesses by 2030. He urged Oregonians to look beyond short-term fixes to falling home values and an economic recession to the potential for long-term savings on energy costs through weatherization of current buildings and new green building requirements.
Here are some of the other policies he's proposing for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transportation:
- Adopt a carbon cap and trade market that would take effect in 2012.
- Establish a new reporting system for carbon emissions.
- Energy performance certificates for existing homes.
- Expansion of the business energy tax credit to 50% from 35% for efficiency projects.

It's Devin Phillips, on saxophone, opening with a neat rendition of "Watermelon Man." They were the second act that I heard once I had arrived at South Waterfront Day Concert in the Park at the South Waterfront Neighborhood Park (3508 SW Moody Ave.). It was the same day I took the construction cranes either looking or not looking through my sunglasses. I have several more photos to share, too. It was a fun time for me, enjoying the music, the sun, watching people and their dogs and their children.

Here's the entire Devin Phillips Funk Band. I thoroughly enjoyed every song they performed. One of these days I'm going to catch them at a jazz club, too. There's one nearby that I can get to and from on the bus.
Here's a quote about Phillips and his band that I found at Devin Phillips Dot Com:
