Last Friday at our Knit-a-long, one of our staff members, Alex, made a hysterical comment. She dropped a stitch marker accidentally and the woman next to her moved as if to help her look for it. Alex just shrugged and laughed and said not to worry about it, because she'd never found a [...]

Since we had our big yard sale last month we just haven't had enough useless junk around the place, so I decided to check out some yard sales today as I was out doing errands. I did not see much of any interest and saw a lot of really dismal stuff. Here's my one purchase. (It cost me $1)
Know what it is? It's a rudimentary sewing machine! It came with a decent needle and an old wooden spool of very dusty thread.
This is how you use it. You position the fabric under the guides and under the needle, then squeeze the spring-loaded top and bottom parts together and it forms a chain stitch.

After a little practice I was able to get a pretty even looking stitch going. Here's how it looks on the top.
Toby sent me a picture today of the first knittag I put up in Oregon, and it's still there! Most of my knittags in Washington have been removed, for what reasons I do not know. But I'd like to think that zombies, pencil toppers, and rice milk where all involved in the various endeavors to remove the knittags. Buuut, most likely they were all mundane stories involving shaking fingers and/or fists or inclement weather.
Anywho, thanks to all the glorious people (and bikes) that head up to Black Rock who let my colorful knittag fulfill it's life long duty...to warm that post, and make it extra fancy...definitely the extra fancy bit.
It's a bit in shambles but, but bright and still loving on at wooden post:

So I went up North to Seattle and left a knittag down by the pier-somewhat near the Pike Place market. But, alas, I do not have the pictures of it yet. So as soon as I get them, via Snail Mail, I will post them as well as the story. But until then, why not enjoy some one else's knittag. It's located in Fremont-a neighborhood in Seattle. My friend Chris Incognegro send it to me just this morning.
Enjoy,

Enjoy,

No knittags this week but I did create a jellyfish! Which will stay in the state of Washington... in an undisclosed location.
Hazzah!

I'm in Olympia, Washington visiting my sister-for the second time in two weeks- after having a very...unsettling train experience. Silly frozen weather shut down Amtrak from Eugene to Canada. Although, I should be thankful that Amtrak decided not to cancel the Starlight-yet- otherwise I wouldn't have gotten any farther then Salem. That said, I only got as far as Portland on the train before I caught a glimpse of an opportunity to escape on inevitable insanity-so logically, I tried to escape-with success. Fives hours-for a one hour trip distance was just too much-I was done. Although driving on I-5 at night on compressed snow and ice with a California driver wasn't really any more calming then the train, but all long as there weren't cars directly around us it was...quite amusing.
Anywho, I was here about a week ago and with me had a knittag, Doffah, I wasn't too fond of. It was more of just a killing-my-anxiety project-more so than usual. After my sister expressed her feelings toward Doffah, I figured it was fitting to cast off and to leave her here in Olympia-where she could have a happy home, protecting possibly a tree lacking some girth to protect itself from the chilly weather.

Slowly and surely I will be covering more and more of poles, post, racks, rails and other smaller public formations (seeing as how I am fairly short and usually lacking a second pair of shoulders to climb on) with knittags. Doing this is just my way of bringing some color into the pubic eye. And a smile to someone's day.
Here are a few of the knittags that have gone up...and from what I've heard and seen, are still up:
