I've been in Portland, Oregon for 7 years now, and it's my favorite city on Earth. Well, I hear Rome is pretty nice too, but I need to practice my Italian. In December of 2005, I opened up a retail boutique with my friends from Modified Printing and Design. It's been a great fit, and a dream come true.

120905.8.jpgOn Portland's southeast Division Street, two copasetic shops are co-hosting an opening party tonight. Modified Apparel is a screen-printing den specializing in pro-scooter apparel, such as the "Scooter Militia" line above. At the same address is Motokitty, producing handmade bags, jewelry, and other feminine accoutria. The partay features music and booze, and the festivities begin at 7 p.m.

I think blogging will be limited for July.

I just typed out my calendar for the month, and I'm gonna be busy.

Next week's Amerivespa, and I'd like to have 30 more bags done before I go to Seattle. Next Thursday.

Oh yeah, there are LOTS of things going on in the meantime too.
* Rock, Paper, Scissors planning
* Wedding this weekend
* Bartending on Monday and Friday this week
* Rigo's 30th soiree!
* Gotta book the flight to MI
* Need to make a GIF/JPG for DUCF website by the 6th
* Gotta pay the DUCF folks (Detroit Urban Craft Fair)
* 8 special orders to complete
* 3 patch jackets to sew patches on to
* Independence Day. Working. Pool party. 'Splosives. Ooh, I loves me some 'splosives.
* Pricing everything
* Tagging everything
* Need to complete artwork for 3 new shirts

Scatterbrained. I'm just typing out loud, so I can wrap my brain around what needs to happen.

I see about 25 hours of straight sewing in my future.

These are the kids I met yesterday morning when I got home from working @ the bar. One of the many reasons Portland is sweet.

Gotta get up early. Making jewelry for the bride tomorrow.

Oh, but I've done so much today!

I've done so much *this week!*

I probably won't update about the rest of the SF trip, other than the following:
*I had lots of fun
*Sunday was great
*Mrs. Kate is f-ing faboo, and will be coming to visit in July for the rally! Whee!
*Riding bitch hurts my ass. I prefer to ride by myself.
*SFMC late night, after-hours private party which ended up leaving a bruise on my bottom. Ha!
*"WAKE UP, BITCHES!"
*Sleeping late on Monday, taking a later flight, getting home, immediately going to work. Glowing all week. Getting out of town on a vacation is fun!

That being said, hit the ground running. Exhausted. Lots of new stuff made, new items on the website, everything is flying around.

Hm. What else.....

Got in to Detroit Urban Craft Fair ( = trip to MI in August!), Amerivespa in 3 weeks, the new Craft Rock is called Rock, Paper, Scissors (www.rockpaperscissorspdx.com), and I've been putting new stuff on the web left and right.

And why am I single? Oh yeah, because I am married. To Motokitty. It's True Love Always, so that's just fine by me.

night.

I fly in to Oakland around 630 tomorrow evening. Everything after that is a mystery.

See you there?

Friday, day 1. I wrote most of this on my phone yesterday while I was waiting in the airport, hence any issues with spelling or punctuation.

Flew in on friday evening, hour delay, but no big deal. Was greeted@ the airport by ginabunny and her bf colin. We drove over to the sfmc and were greeted by familiar faces - zorn, fritz, and a few others. Met my new bff, ms. Janel - total fashionista. The ride started filling in, in came chris with his crutch, a big smile, warm hug, and a flower he' picked along the way. Sweetness, sweetness. Many coronas, some deinks with rockstar, which was a terrible idea, lots of laughing, fun and warmth. Oh, the new people I finally got to put faces to names with! Brigid, cait, and lots of other lovelies.

Rode back to cathys house, settled in and slllllept. Oh so nice! My own guest room and everything! No way could the set up been any better. So sweet, so nice, so fun.

Saturday, day 2.

Saturday, we got up and went to the speakyeasy brewery for the day show- ryan came over from sac for the day, wish I could have spent more time with him. Prd and lisa were over, and her daughter celia was my sales assistant for the day. For an 8 year old, she was awesome. We stood around, sold a bunch of stuff,

then rode over to janel and jim's super swank mid century house with an amazing view.

"As hell week continues, we find our heroine Cari laying in bed and blogging late on a Sunday night/Monday morning..."

I'm tired.

The show was fun, met lots of people, including the style editor of The Oregonian, as well as some other top-secret folk of the trade. Rhymes with Ted and Spiegel, and is a specialty high-end store. Hm.

I've gotten 5 hours of sleep in the last 48. Burned.

Ran into GTB yesterday.
"Hey Cari Carter!"
"Hey GTB!"
"I'm getting married today!"
"Whoa! Congratulations!"
"Yeah! Yay me!"

Wow. Obviously time heals all wounds, because I was seriously wounded by that one about 6 years ago. I'm excited for his future, as I know he's been looking to settle down for quite some time now.

Get me out of town. I need non-Portland familiarity.
