Jeff Jahn is the founding director and curator of organism an innovative new non-profit visual art institution for Portland Oregon. As a curator, artist, composer and critic he has helped drive many of the radical changes in Portland's cultural scene. Jahn has published in Modern Painters, Art Critical, NY Arts Journal and Diesel among others. Last year he co-launched the noted and innovative art macro blog PORT. His Art and Threat and The Best Coast essays are available online.

Jeff Jahn, "Eutrophication (detail)"

PORT's own Jeff Jahn will be speaking next week on his site-specific installation, Eutrophication. Jahn will discuss his wide artistic influences, including Bob Irwin, Robert Smithson, Donald Judd, Paul Klee, Sol LeWitt, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Frank Lloyd Wright, as well as his relationship to architecture and the aesthetic effects of his musical interests.

Avant Blog/More Reporting From the Blogosphere

Following up the November "Art in America" article by Peter Plagens titled "Report From the Blogosphere," PNCA will host PORT's Avant Blog. A panel talk which seeks to expand and focus the conversation begun by Plagens. The panel will include: Amy Bernstein of PORT, Jeff Jahn, co-founder of PORT featured in "Report From the Blogosphere," Erin Langner, Communications Assistant at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle and a regular contributor to Hankblog, the Henry Art Gallery's blog, and Carolyn Zick, blogger at "Dangerous Chunky." Bruce Guenther, Chief Curator Portland Art Museum, will server as moderator.
