This is very important - it applies to EVERYONE. As consumers, we will all see major unintended changes put into effect by this law.
Feb. 10, 2009, is being called National Bankruptcy Day, and indeed, for many, this will be the day that a lot of homegrown businesses will go kaput after many years of success.
PLEASE READ: This affects not just retailers and resellers, but consumers as well: buying and selling of anything NEW OR USED that could be seen as "for children under the age of 12" is going to be affected by this new law. This law has unintended effects which will cause many small businesses to shut down, including resellers and consignment stores, but it will also affect the choices you have when YOU go to shop online, in stores, and even on places like craigslist!
Even if you don't have kids, if you've ever bought collectors items which qualify as "toys" or books that could be seen as suitable for children, these options will be affected by this law!!
What led to the law:
Last year, in response to a bunch of recalls by large companies who manufacture mass-produced goods in China, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) put together a new federal law which will go into effect Feb. 10, 2009.
