Still on the handmade gift kick today. In the last few years, Etsy has grown into an mind-boggling array of local, handmade gifts in a variety of colors. And, this is good news for artists! In their recent article, Making Artistic Careers Lucrative, the New York Times highlights Etsy as an important piece of the puzzle for helping independent artists make it. We've been thrilled to see a number of our friends and clients open their own Etsy shops.
...Entermodal is having their annual Sample Sale (prices 50 to 70% off retail), along with some warm winter drinks and treats tonight from 4-8pm. Since last year, they have released 2 larger collections, so this year's sample selection will be fairly expansive: wallets, flip cases, messenger bags, women's bags (I can't quite bear to call them purses) and even some new doctor's bags that are part of their travel collection. If not for a purchase of your own, stop in for a peak at their new, Spring 09 collection!
We also enjoyed Entermodal's write-up in a modern bag search by Portland's own makool loves you. Our vote is squarely with Entermodal!
Tonight, Makool steps in to be the next line showcased in Seaplane's ongoing series of pop-up stores, down the street at 919 NW 3rd (ground floor). From 7-10 pm, stop in for a trunk show featuring the fall collection, overstock from spring/summer, plus a new line of intimate apparel.
Turns out that this weekend's KitKitDodge pop-up shop hosted by Seaplane is just the tip of the ice burg: According to store manager Laura Irwin, there's a full roster of events coming down the pipeline:
